Our next appointment isn't until Monday, and that's very little more than a normal checkup. I doubt we'll even get the cool ultrasound pictures we're always looking for. Totally not fair. The ultrasound should be at the start of every appointment. I'd listen better if they were. As it is now, the appointments often start with an attempt at conversation and the doc/nurses trying to drop some knowledge up in there. Unfortunately, all I can usually think at the time is, "yeah, yeah, we read that in one of the 8 baby books we have. Show me my BABY!" At any rate, Monday aside, we're a week away from our 20 week anatomy scan. We're both apprehensive though we've had so many ultrasounds leading up to it, that we have little to worry about.
We spent the last week in a bit of role reversal. I got to play the role of the pregnant lady, or at least Nichole got to be the dutiful spouse. My body apparently couldn't stand all the attention Nichole was getting so I came down with a very nasty Infection in my ankle. It started on a Thursday when I was in Atlanta as a minor irritation. By Friday I had a bit of a limp. Friday night, I flew back to DC, and by the time we landed, I was limping something fierce. At this point I assumed I'd twisted my ankle and maybe pinched a nerve. Nichole picked me up from the airport and we drove home. After the 30 minute car ride, I couldn't stand on my foot anymore. It suffices to say we were both...concerned at this point. We took immediate action. We drove through tacobell, went home, ate some tacos, changed clothes, then went to the hospital. Long story short, lots of antibiotics. The strangest thing about the whole ordeal was having my pregnant wife take care of me instead of the other way around. I'm back on my feet as of today (both of them) so I'll be taking Nichole out for a date tonight.
I feel nothing but blessed that I married someone awesome enough to not only take care of herself, but to also simultaneously take care of two separate parasitic versions of me at the same time.
